Moshe’s Story
Moshe is the first of a menagerie of animal and insect characters who can become familiar friends in the mind of a child. Each of the Tiny Virtue Heroes™ is an approachable and memorable model of a virtue. Mo shows us that we can be confident in the big goodness of GOD and find strength and joy in being humble and small. We can rest like a tame little mouse in God’s strong and gentle hand.
Mo’s storybook, A Mouse and a Miracle, will release in July 2020. It is a multi-faceted portrait of Humility that is full of warmth and smiles. In the story, Mo shares an imaginary “first-person” eye-witness account of Mary at the Annunciation. With Mo as our guide, we step into Mary’s humble daily life, before, during and after that miraculous moment. With Mo’s beguiling charm, and Mary’s youthful beauty, inside and out, children will be gently taught to desire the virtue of humility themselves.
Mo, and all the Tiny Virtue Heroes™ turn a child’s imagination into a sacred training space, a spiritual dojo, in which everyday habits are powered with God’s grace to become real life super-powers! Tiny Virtue Heroes™ help children, during both play time and “pray time,” to build character, conscience and faith that smiles! These animal and insect characters are friendly sidekicks, who point the admiration of children toward real-life Virtue Heroes from the Bible and from the Virtue Mission Regions of the world. Mo’s favorite Bible Virtue Hero is his friend, young Mary at the Annunciation. He admires Mary’s joyful humility and invites us make her our hero too! Mo also especially admires Mission Virtue Hero, Justo Takayma Ukon, from Japan. Justo was a Samurai warrior whose heroic humility enabled him to bring the love of Christ to many souls in Japan and the Philippines.
The Tiny Virtue Heroes™ want every child to be VIRTUE-STRONG and to discover that virtue is REAL super-power. Virtues can become our super-powers when we decide to PRAY and act with a desire for heroic goodness. Our prayer gives God permission to unleash His grace to super-naturally strengthen our everyday efforts to build habits of virtue. Introduce the children in your life to the Tiny Virtue Heroes™, and see what virtue your child can choose to power-up their soul today!
Moshe is pictured eating at the start of this article as an image that we are what we eat. He reminds us that as we fill ourselves with virtuous experiences, entertainment, and more, we become what we consume.
Encourage your child to think of him or herself as a virtue hero, whose “powers” are hidden in plain sight, living with SUPER-natural strength in each daily thought, prayer, conversation, and action. As Virtue Heroes, our children can make the world a better place during their time on earth, while also preparing for the journey to their forever home to be with all God’s heroes in heaven.

Virtue Heroes™ Creator, Cathy Gilmore, expresses her “author’s voice” in first-person storytelling for children in which a little animal creature tells the story of a powerful moment in Christian spiritual history. Her first published work, Easter Bunny’s Amazing Day was a team effort with her sister to create a fresh “first person” account of the Resurrection of Jesus, as told by an adorable little bunny. Cathy built on that story’s success with the picture book, Little Lamb Finds Christmas, in which a lost lamb named Lemi tells the story how he found not only baby Jesus in Bethlehem, but also discovered something more - a peaceable kingdom in which lions and lambs can be friends. Cathy is building on that foundation with the launch of the Tiny Virtue Heroes™ series of characters, resources, and storybooks. Moshe’s Tiny Virtue Hero story of Humility is told in the children’s picture book titled A Mouse and a Miracle, scheduled for release in summer 2020.
